Rural Resources Community Action Energy Programs
Low-income Energy Assistance Program: The Federally funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides low-income households residing in Ferry, Stevens, Lincoln, and Pend Oreille Counties with heating assistance one time per year. Those who received energy assistance last year should have received an application in the mail. For those who did not receive an application and wish to apply, pre-applications are available at local food banks, senior centers, Rural Resources offices, and utility offices.
Pre-applications received after November 1st will be placed on a waiting list. Funding is limited and applying does not guarantee you will receive an appointment. Appointments are scheduled by a system that prioritizes those households with members who are seniors, disabled persons, and families with children age five and under.
Project Share: Project Share is an emergency heating assistance program for residents of Ferry, Lincoln and Stevens Counties funded by donations from private citizens and customers of Avista and Inland Power. Project Share pays for oil, wood, electricity, natural gas or other forms of primary heat for households in danger of losing their heat source and who have nowhere else to turn for help.
