Ferry County PUD is warning customers of a telephone scam targeting local residents. Scammers call and say that they are from the power company and that the customer owes money and will be disconnected if they do not pay immediately. The caller may ask for credit card, bank account, or other personal information. Ferry County PUD does not use third party businesses or outside entities to collect payments on active accounts. If you receive a call from anyone other than the PUD asking for payment of your electric bill, or if you are unsure whether or not a call is actually from Ferry County PUD, do not give them any payment or personal information. Hang up and call the PUD directly at 509-775-3325.
Ferry County PUD does not make telephone calls to customers regarding credit ratings.
The latest telephone scam targeting PUD customers has a new twist. The caller ID actually reflects “FERRY COUNTY PUD” with a local 775 phone number. The scammer tries to urge consumers to help improve their personal credit ratings by setting up automatic payments of their monthly electric billing. The caller may ask for credit card, bank account, or other personal information. If you receive such a call, please do not give them any information. Hang up and call the PUD directly using only the phone numbers provided on your electric bill to report the scam attempt to a customer service representative that you know.
